Find your Chinese zodiac animal and birth-year element from your full date of birth. The calculator checks Lunar New Year, so January and February birthdays get the right lunar year.
A full date makes the difference
You belong to the previous lunar year. For example, February 5, 2027 is Fire Horse, while February 6, 2027 is Fire Goat. A calculator that looks only at “2027” would miss that change.

Enter your full Gregorian birth date. This calculator converts it to the Chinese lunar calendar and returns the lunar year’s animal, Heavenly Stem element, polarity, and exact New Year date range.
A chart using only the Gregorian year can be wrong for January and early February birthdays. Until Chinese New Year begins, your date belongs to the preceding lunar zodiac year.
This lunar-year zodiac calculator needs only a date and follows the China and Hong Kong calendar convention. A full BaZi chart needs additional time and place information because its pillars use different boundaries.

Dates use the Chinese lunar calendar convention used in China and Hong Kong (UTC+8). The year starts on the first day of the first lunar month. Calendar conversions use lunar-javascript; the 2027 and 2028 boundaries were checked against the Hong Kong Observatory tables.
A Chinese zodiac sign describes the lunar birth year. BaZi uses four pillars and commonly changes its Year Pillar at Li Chun, the Start of Spring solar term. A zodiac year’s element is its Heavenly Stem element, not your Day Master.
